Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. 3For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.
James is writing to Christians that are getting persecuted for their faith in Jesus. It says whenever trouble comes your way...meaning that trouble or trails will come. Then it says Count it JOY....Joy is your choice when trails or trouble come your way.
B/c of your trails we are being tested....and testing produces maturity in the faith..and if have wisdom to choose the right way then we will have maturity. If we don't have wisdom then we need to ask God for it....just a reminder to me that I need to be about praying for wisdom in my life daily....

5If you need wisdom—if you want to know what God wants you to do—ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. 6But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8They can't make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.

Boy, don't we ALL need to be praying for wisdom every day. Thank goodness we have God's grace - his undeserved favor. We can received and use his power - which includes his WISDOM - to live our lives for him. I'm so glad I don't have to depend on my own wisdom!
thanks for the amazing encounter series, jamie! it was fantastic! it really kept me motivated to read my Bible each night! i would definitely do it again!
